Wedding vowes

Writing your own wedding vows can make your wedding day even more memorable.

Writing your own wedding vows is a great way to make your wedding not only unique but also to make it much more personal for you both as a couple. Here are a few things you may want to keep in mind if you are planning to write and use your own vows on your wedding day.

Make certain that you write the vows together so can both add any details that may be important to you. If you choose to surprise each other with your own wedding vows, you should at least have some idea of what kinds of feelings or emotions it is that you want to incorporate into them.

Make sure that you talk to the priest, judge, or other officiant that will be conducting the ceremony so they can help you with the rules or guidelines that you might need to follow in your state or country. You will also want to make sure that they know what to expect while they are performing the ceremony as well as letting you know at what point you will be able to recite your own wedding vows.

Know what you want the topic to be and whether you want to write formal or informal vows that send a heartfelt message to your partner. You might want to add in a few things about how you met and fell in love and how you felt about it at the time. Maybe you new that this would be the one right from the start or maybe you thought that you would never have found yourself in this place with them.

Make sure that you keep your wedding vows short enough for you to recite from memory as well as to keep the ceremony going smoothly. While saying your vows from memory is almost always preferable, no one is going to mind if you do have to have notes as reminders because after all this is "your" wedding day.

You may want to have the person who will be performing the ceremony take a look at the vows once you have them written down so that they can give you any suggestions or advice as to how well this is going to sound as you state them to each other. Remember, they have plenty of experience and can offer some sound advice for you to keep in mind, but in the end it will be you as a couple who should make the final decisions as to what you will say in your wedding vows.

Last but not least is that once you know for sure what you will be saying, you should stand in front of a mirror and practice them several times so that you are able to enunciate and use dramatic effects where you really want the words to stand out. Remember too, that most couples are a nervous wreck on the day of the wedding so the more you practice and know your wedding vows by heart, the more relaxed you will be while you are reciting them.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life so if you want to make it special and have the words you exchange be truly memorable, write your own wedding vows.
